Toward a Common Understanding of Psychomotor Development

News - Intro image

A new project aiming to establish a common framework around motor and psychomotor development is taking shape, made possible through funding from the Physical Activity Lifestyle Table.

In the field of motor and psychomotor development, the absence of a common framework creates obstacles to understanding among stakeholders from different backgrounds. Faced with this challenge, a significant project is underway to establish scientific consensus around this complex terminology.

The project, financially supported by the Physical Activity Lifestyle Table, represents an innovative initiative to harmonize various existing interpretations and provide a solid framework for practitioners, researchers, and educators working in the field.

The first step of the project will involve a comprehensive review of existing literature on motor and psychomotor development. This in-depth analysis will identify divergences and convergences within the scientific community. Following this analysis, a scientific methodology will be developed to guide a consultation process that will lead to consensus. As part of this approach, experts from the research field and practical settings will be brought together, representing different perspectives and schools of thought. Their combined expertise, coupled with a systematic approach, will contribute to clearly defining the terms and concepts related to motor and psychomotor development.

This comprehensive project represents a crucial step toward clarifying the terms and concepts related to motor and psychomotor development. By fostering collaboration among experts and relying on rigorous scientific methodology, the project will create a common framework that will benefit all stakeholders in the field.
